Luis Garcia believes the Anfield factor makes the next Liverpool FC Legends match particularly special for the players returning to the stadium in March.

The 2005 Champions League winner has been a regular for the Legends team in recent years as the collection of Reds greats have visited Spain, Sweden and Sydney for fixtures.

Next month, Anfield gets its turn to play host to Garcia and co, with Real Madrid the opponents in a much-anticipated rematch on Saturday March 25 which will raise funds for the Liverpool FC Foundation.

With Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush installed as captain and player-manager respectively, plus the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Gary McAllister, John Arne Riise and many more iconic figures confirmed to take part, it is an occasion not to miss.

“I’m looking forward to it, of course. It’s a very exciting game,” Garcia told Liverpoolfc.com.

“We played at the Bernabeu two years ago and we’re looking forward to this one because we know how important it is for the supporters to have these kinds of games at home.

“We have played a few of them around the world and this one is very special. Steven Gerrard is back at Anfield, he’s going to play for the Legends team, and we’re going to have a fantastic squad.

“Let’s see how it goes. I think it’s going to be a very exciting game to come with the family [to watch].”

The primary objective of the event is to support the work of the club’s official charity and its programmes and projects which help to improve the lives of children and young people in Merseyside and beyond.

But between the first and final whistle on the pitch, Garcia insists every player involved will be giving everything to secure revenge for Liverpool’s 4-2 defeat against Real in 2015.

The Spaniard added: “Even though they are charity games, we want to win. When you arrive at that level, you want to win every game.

“When we were at the Bernabeu, we struggled to get that victory. Hopefully we can do a good job and win the game.”
