Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush and Steve McManaman were among those in action as members of the Liverpool FC Legends squad prepared for their clash with Real Madrid by playing seven-a-side this afternoon.

The Legends will take on Real at Anfield on Saturday March 25, and a number of the former Reds trained ahead of that highly-anticipated match at the Academy on Monday.

Gerrard was joined by Rush, Alan Kennedy, Phil Babb and David Thompson as they took on a group including McManaman, John Aldridge, Gary McAllister and Jason McAteer.

It proved to be an entertaining contest, with Gerrard's side eventually running out 4-1 winners before McManaman's team regained some pride by edging a penalty shootout 5-4.
