Roberto Firmino feels the benefits of working with Jürgen Klopp on a daily basis, with the Liverpool forward explaining how the manager is vital to his development.

Since Klopp took charge at Anfield in October 2015, Firmino has transformed from an attacking midfielder who wore the No.11 jersey to a striker who dons the No.9.

The Brazilian’s clever movement and tireless work rate, allied to his technical ability and eye for goal, make him an integral component in Liverpool’s side.

Klopp regularly marvels at Firmino’s contribution - doing so most recently after last weekend’s 4-1 victory over West Ham United - and the 26-year-old has spoken glowingly about his relationship with the boss.

“His importance to me is quite huge,” Firmino told Premier League Productions.

“He helps me in the daily training sessions and I’ve learned a lot with him. He’s been obtaining the best of me, the maximum possible.

“He’s an exceptional manager and I’m honoured to work with him… I think since his arrival things have changed for the better.”

Firmino’s footballing intelligence and impressive physical attributes enable him to carry out one of the central tenets of Klopp’s strategy - pressing - and that is a task he relishes.

“[I press] With a lot of pleasure. I love to put pressure on the opposition team, make their life difficult and if I can steal the ball it will be much easier for us to score,” Firmino said.

As well as enjoying his work on the pitch, Firmino is content with his life off it, too.

“I’m very happy and it’s very gratifying coming to a huge club like Liverpool and living in this lovely city,” he stated.

“The supporters are fantastic. I’ve never had problems with them and I hope that carries on for the rest of my time here.”
