'We're ready to respond at Bournemouth'
Dominic Solanke expects Liverpool to learn from the frustration of being held to back-to-back home draws and feels confident of returning to winning ways at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
Anfield meetings with Everton and West Bromwich Albion over the last six days have yielded only two points and one goal for the Reds, despite their near-complete control of both games.
However, Solanke thinks Jürgen Klopp’s team can take important lessons on board from those matches as they strive to rediscover the ruthless streak that saw them score 15 times in their three outings immediately before the derby.
“I think it’s always disappointing when you don’t get a win. Obviously we’re one of the best clubs in the league, so when you drop points it’s always a negative,” the striker told Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood.
“But I think it’s important to take the positives from the games as well. You can learn a lot from games like that when a team plays a bit more defensive - sometimes it gets hard to break them down and you know you’ve got to try to take your chances when you’re on top.
“We have quite a lot of the ball in the majority of the games so I think we’ve got to try to make sure we finish it off.”
This weekend’s trip to the south coast represents Liverpool’s ninth fixture in a little over four weeks amid the season’s busiest period.
However, Solanke sees the chance to get the disappointments of the stalemates with Everton and West Brom out of their system quickly as a positive for the Reds.
“Definitely. I think that’s the good thing with all the games, you know if you drop points in one game then a few days later you can put it right straight away and try to climb back up the table, so we’ll definitely be looking to do that on Sunday,” the 20-year-old said.
“It’s an important stage of the season. We need to try to get as many points as we can, and we’ll definitely be going there to win.”
