Emre Can has called for his teammates to use the lessons learned from a disappointing week and show the 'real Liverpool' at Huddersfield on Tuesday evening.

The Reds saw an 18-match unbeaten streak come to an end with defeat at Swansea City on Monday, and followed that result up by going out of the FA Cup at the hands of West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Saturday.

Next up for Jürgen Klopp's team is a trip to the John Smith's Stadium in the Premier League, and Can is keen to make that fixture the start of another good run.

"You can learn from the games and that’s what we have to take from them, but we have to go with confidence into the Huddersfield game," the Germany international told Liverpoolfc.com.

"We have to mix those two things and then I think we can be strong – we can be the real Liverpool, like we were in the last few weeks.

"I am hopeful we can get the momentum going again.

"Against Huddersfield it will hopefully be different and we will show our real faces and win the game. It’s very important for us as a team to strike back immediately."

That said, Can knows it won't be easy to get back on track against a dangerous opponent in the Terriers.

The midfielder paid tribute to the job done by his countryman David Wagner, whose team have impressed in their first season in the top flight.

"I think he did a brilliant job last year and they were promoted to the Premier League," he added.

"This year as well – they’ve had ups and downs, but they’re still a good team.

"They play as a team and that’s very important for them. The last games, they didn’t have the results but it will still be a very tough game, but we will try to play our style and try to win."
