Liverpool are keen on securing a deal to sign highly-rated Coventry City teenager James Maddison this summer.

The Reds held talks with the League One outfit during the January window but were informed that the attacking midfielder would be staying put until the end of the season.

Liverpool have heavily scouted the talented 19-year-old, who has scored twice in 13 appearances for the Sky Blues so far this term.

Maddison has also attracted interest from Tottenham but the Reds are hoping to win the race for his signature.

Liverpool enjoy close ties with Coventry having sent Ryan Kent there on loan earlier in the season.

Coventry boss Tony Mowbray recently insisted the time wasn’t right for Maddison to step up to the top flight as he wants him to help spearhead their promotion push.
