Liverpool are lining up an approach for highly-rated German goalkeeper Timo Horn this summer.

The FC Koln stopper, 22, has been tipped as the long-term successor to Manuel Neuer in the German national team after an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga.

According to Bild, Liverpool have been monitoring Horn's progress closely this term, with Jürgen Klopp understood to be a huge admirer of the youngster's raw ability.

Horn's current contract with FC Koln still has three years to run but he is believed to have a release clause of around £7m which makes him a cheap option for Liverpool.

Horn has kept eight clean sheets in 32 games for FC Koln this term and has featured for all of Germany's youth sides but has yet to be handed a cap at senior level.
