Liverpool have reportedly been scouting Atletico Madrid defender Theo Hernandez ahead of a potential transfer, but face competition from Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old left-back is considered a huge talent in La Liga, and has impressed on loan at Alaves this season to attract the interest of bigger clubs.

Reports claim Liverpool have been keeping a close eye on Hernandez, with his release clause of just £20million looking quite appealing for a player of his tremendous potential.

Hernandez could be the man for the job, but Real are also keen as they eye a long-term successor to Brazilian full-back Marcelo.

Atletico Madrid may want Hernandez as a first-team regular when he returns from loan next season, but the buy-out clause in his contract means they are currently powerless to stop him leaving if clubs meet that price.
