Liverpool are considering a lucrative offer to play an end-of-season friendly in Australia next month.

Talks have been held about the possibility of facing Sydney FC at the 83,000-capacity ANZ Stadium.

The ECHO understands that no deal is in place but discussions are ongoing.

If the game happens it will take place in the week after the Reds’ final Premier League fixture which is at home to Middlesbrough on May 21.

Liverpool have never played in Sydney but their two previous visits Down Under have showcased the huge support they boast Down Under.

Some 95,000 fans packed into the MCG to watch the Reds beat Melbourne Victory in a pre-season friendly in 2013.

Two years later Liverpool played in front of 50,000 fans in Brisbane and 53,000 in Adelaide.

Liverpool had a number of offers to return to Australia this July as part of their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2017-18 season.

But Jurgen Klopp was keen to avoid too much travelling before the new season and the Reds will only embark on a short tour with matches in China and Hong Kong before a training camp in Germany.

Klopp is however open to the idea of playing an end-of-season game in Australia and the players have been informed that their services maybe required beyond the final weekend of the Premier League campaign.
