There has been no approach from Liverpool to sign Gremio striker Luan, according to club president Romildo Bolzan.

Reports this week claimed Liverpool were closing in on a transfer for the exciting attacker and had lodged a £26 million bid.

Luan has been dubbed the new ‘new Ronaldinho’ in his native Brazil and his agent claimed Liverpool were interested in bringing him to England.

"We do talk to Liverpool, as we talk to other clubs as well, but there is no proposal," Jair Peixoto said.

But Gremio have now denied reports of a bid and insisted they have received zero offers for Luan.

"Luan is a player who said he would have proposals but so far none have come, except for one about three years ago when he was on a different level," Bolzan said over the weekend.

"We have no approach, no official proposal. We have absolutely no concrete proposal."

The 24-year-old has just one year left on his current deal with reports claiming he had rejected the chance to sign a fresh contract.
