Liverpool willing to break transfer record for Roma star
Liverpool are ready to break their transfer record in order to sign Mohamed Salah from Roma, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph claims that the Serie A club are demanding a fee in excess of £35 million and Liverpool are continuing negotiations.
Liverpool’s current transfer record is the £35m spent to sign Andy Carroll from Newcastle United in 2011, but it’s now claimed that the club are willing to go beyond land in order to land Salah.
Earlier this month, reports claimed that Liverpool have agreed a £90,000-a-week contract with 25-year-old.
On Thursday, La Gazzetta dello Sport also reported that the Egypt international has agreed terms with Liverpool and has informed Roma that he wants to leave this summer.
Liverpool, however, have yet to launch a new offer after their opening bid of £28m was rejected.
‘It is true that there is interest in Salah from an English club, there is an offer, but we set the price and we decide if we sell at that price,’ Roma’s sporting director, Monchi, said at a press conference on Wednesday.
