Liverpool have made a move for Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa and have offered him a five-year deal.

But Correa is keen for the Reds to almost double their wage offer and Atletico are yet to accept a transfer fee.

Liverpool have already added Mohamed Salah for a new club-record fee.

But Jurgen Klopp is keen on Correa and has reportedly already sanctioned an offer from Liverpool.

French publication Foot Mercato claim Liverpool have offered Correa £2.9m-a-year on a five-year deal.

But it is said he wants £3.97m a season to make the move.

Atletico are also holding out for just shy of £25m for the 22-year-old.

The club don’t want to sell while under transfer embargo but if a big bid comes in they will consider it.

Now Klopp looks to be focusing on his forward line again.

Correa joined Atletico from San Lorenzo in 2014.

He has seven Argentina caps and scored four goals in 31 La Liga appearances last term.

Correa can play through the middle or off the right but only start 10 times in La Liga and twice in the Champions League last term.

He has been compared to Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez for his build and style of play.
