Liverpool still trying to sign Naby Keita
Liverpool's ambition to sign Naby Keita has been dented once again after Red Bull Leipzig hardened their stance on his future.
Keita is the undisputed number one target for Liverpool this summer, with Jurgen Klopp prepared to obliterate the club’s transfer record to bring the Guinea midfielder to Anfield.
Leipzig, though, have made it clear that no amount of money will convince them to sell Keita ahead of their first crack at the Champions League with Sporting Director Ralf Ragnick adamant not even £100million would turn their heads.
Ragnick went public with those claims but Leipzig have gone a step further now and they made contact with Liverpool to insist that they will not be doing any deals and he is definitely not for sale.
Klopp has wanted Keita to add dynamism to Liverpool’s midfield for much of 2017 and sees the 22-year-old has having the ability to make a difference to his team’s attack.
He is open to the idea of moving to the Premier League to work with Klopp but Leipzig’s resolve not to do business means Keita, who is due in training today, may have to submit a transfer request.
