Liverpool have entered the race to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal this month, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger has already admitted defeat in his efforts to keep the Chile international until the end of the season.

And the Gunners are now open to selling the forward if a club matches their £35 million valuation.

Both Manchester City and Manchester United have expressed their interest in signing the 29-year-old before the end of the January transfer window.

But according to the Sunday Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is also targeting a move for Sanchez.

The report claims that Klopp and Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group are in discussions about a deal for Sanchez this month.

But the biggest stumbling block for Liverpool is their inability to match the wages on offer from City and United.

Jose Mourinho’s side are reportedly ready to offer Sanchez a deal worth over £300,000 a week, while City are proposing a £285,000-a-week contract.
