Liverpool have been put into the frame for the signature of Brazilian star Malcom – by his club manager at Bordeaux.

The 20-year-old has been a standout star in Ligue 1 this campaign, scoring seven goals and registering five assists in 19 appearances.

Arsenal are interested in the winger as they prepare to replace Alexis Sanchez, who is set to depart the Emirates this summer.

But with interest in both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Malcom may be forced to wait for his move to the Premier League.

Bordeaux boss Jocelyn Gourvennec, however, has bizarrely referenced Liverpool as a potential destination.

“I can’t deny that he’s being followed by a lot of people,” Gourvennec reportedly said. “With Malcom, I go from day-to-day.

“He’s committed. He’s a bit like he was in the summer - I wouldn’t say he has been disturbed by it, that’s a bit strong, he’s not disturbed, but he is asking questions.

“He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logical. If he’s asking questions and he still manages to make assists or score goals, it’ll be fine.

“If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go.

“There is one person who decides in this, that’s the majority shareholder. He talked about this at the weekend, but football remains football.”

Liverpool are not expected to enter the transfer market this January after their attempts to speed up Naby Keita's arrival from RB Leizpig were denied by the Bundesliga club.

Thomas Lemar has been considered but his signature would likely come in the summer, although Monaco's asking price remains high.
