Echo: Jose faces fitness battle

Jose Enrique faces a battle to be fit for Liverpool's trip to Sunderland next Saturday.

The left-back has been undergoing treatment at Melwood after suffering a recurrence of a knee injury following last weekend's home defeat to Arsenal.

Enrique missed the Reds' opening league game at West Brom and the subsequent Europa League trip to Hearts with a similar problem.

He returned to action as a substitute against Manchester City and then started against the Gunners, but the former Newcastle defender has been unable to take part in training this week.
